Assessment & Evaluation

All students are evaluated upon enrollment or upon entering a new class. Based on the initial assessment of the child, the teacher will use information gathered to determine how well the program will meet your child’s needs.

Our teachers are required to test their students at the end of each month, to determine the effectiveness of the teaching method and how well the children have retained the material. This helps establish if the children are ready for more complex material, or if the teacher needs to simplify it.

Children are assessed every three months and an evaluation checklist is completed, documenting each child’s achievements/progress and their specific areas of improvement. Our assessment and evaluation method also focuses on creating a portfolio about each child’s year at the center. This portfolio is a manifestation of how your child has developed, learned and enjoyed the program at Sunrise, and the level of his/ her achievements and areas of development.
